We will be looking at how the US compares to other countries as far as food consumption and production. The button below will take you to the National Geographic webpage where you can view the diet of a number of countries. Using the interactive graphs and data on the site, you will answer the questions below on your website.
1. Which country consumes the most daily calories? Which country consumes the least calories?
2. Which country or countries proportionately consume the most and least grains? Why do you think this is? 3. Which country or countries proportionately consume the most and least meat? Why do you think this is? 4. Which country or countries proportionately consume the most and least produce? Why do you think this is? What 6 factors affect a country's ability to produce their own food?

Lesson 3- Where do my ingredients come from?
In addition to the items you have already added to your website, you use the recipe ingredients and map you created with Mr. Delsol and Ms. Chung to find out how they impact their country of origin.
Step 1- Find the country in which each of your ingredients is produced. These should be pinned on your Google Earth map.
Step 2- Find the following items for each ingredient specific to their country of origin.
Step 3- Add a section for each ingredient with this information on your website under the Ag Econ page. Be sure to add a picture of your product as well.

- How many dollars does the country generate in exporting this product each year?
- How many acres of land (or km) does this country use to grow your product?
- Where are the main places this product is exported from the country?
- Any other interesting economic facts- # of jobs this creates, % of exports, etc.
